I wishing you a very Merry Christmas from good Ol Kentucky. I hope you
had a wonderful holiday. Christmas was great here. We got to spend
time with members and have a great zone Conference.
I apologize if my email last week was somewhat lacking. I got super
sick Sunday night and so for the first half of the week I was pretty
out of it.
We got to explore the boonie part of our area a little this week.
Found this really cool park down by the river in the middle of
nowhere. Had to stop and take a few pictures because how pretty and
random it was.
Zone Conference was a lot of fun. We wore matching sweaters as a
district for lunch and it's always great being around other
missionaries. We last minute were asked to be improv back up dancers
for the ZLs/APs parody of Christmas in Dixie. They changed it to
Christmas in Kentucky and it was hilarious. We had no idea what we
were doing and just had a ridiculous amount of fun.
We helped a member deshell/squish almonds. That was an interesting
experience that I never thought I'd have. She deep fries them and they
are actually delicious. We spent Christmas Eve with them and ate
homemade egg rolls. It was lots of fun as we all went around the table
and shared a spiritual experience we've had this year.
We also went to the Silettas that night as well. They fed us lots of
yummy snacks and we played a funny Book of Mormon Headbands game. Not
trying to brag or anything, but I dominated that game. :) it was lots
of fun.
That night I spent some time and studied the accounts in the New
Testament of Christs birth and the different prophecies of other
prophets long before he came. There is something so sweet about
Christmas on the mission. You spend so much time walking with Christ
and sharing his gospel that the stories become so much more real to
you. Last Christmas I was struggling and miserable, and I was
determined that this one would be different. This Christmas I was
filled with so much more joy, gratitude, and peace as I made the
Savior the biggest part of my Christmas. I hope many of you got to
experience that as well with the #LighttheWorld initiative and
wonderful opportunities to appreciate and share the joy of the gospel
with others. God is so good.
This week is going to be a very busy one as we prepare to take over
the area and have our first exchanges. Super excited for the learning
opportunities coming this week. We also get to help out with a wedding
and attend a baptism of someone Sister Cook was teaching. Should be a
great week.
I love and miss you all! Merry Christmas!
Sister Hoyt
