Happy New Year Jan 1st 2018
Happy New Year Y'all!
It has been a crazy hot minute here and this week has just flown by.
We had a jammed packed week, and have been running around all over the
mission.
We went on a blitz with the Corbin sisters on Thursday. Drove the 2
hours there, and a few hours later drove all the way back. But we had
a great time with those sisters. They are both awesome missionaries
and are great examples. We hiked up this giant hill in 9 degree
weather only to have our lesson cancel on us. But we found another
really awesome lady who is really interested in the church and was
willing to be baptized. The Lord blesses those willing to sacrifice
and who keep going. Corbin is also the birthplace of Kentucky Fried
Chicken, so of course we had to eat there.
Friday was pretty much the best day ever. We were able to go to the
temple and be with Leonard as he took out his endowments. It was
wonderful!! We were all crying. The temple is absolutely amazing. And
there is no greater joy. You could feel the love and happiness of the
Lord as one of his sons made it there. I so hope that I will be able
to see the day when he and his wife will go through to be sealed. It
was just an amazing day!
Saturday we headed back to Louisville for the baptism of someone
Sister Cook was teaching. So that was really fun. Got to see one of my
MTC comps that I haven't seen in forever. I just love her.
Sunday we spent the day with some members so Sister Bradshaw could say
goodbye. Then we went to sign class and came home and crashed.
In other news, you'd think that Kentucky would be part of the arctic
circle with how cold it is this week. We haven't gotten above 30
degrees all week, Mostly in the teens or single digits. And with
humidity and wind chill I half expected to see penguins or frozen
appendages lying around because it this kind of weather freezes
everything off. I don't know who ticked off Mother Nature, but they
need to do some serious repenting because I may actually pass away if
it gets any colder.
So yeah a very fun but crazy week with lots of driving. But it was
amazing to be able to meet and see so many people at different points
in their journey back to our Heavenly Father. This gospel is sooooo
amazing. I am so glad that I have been able to be a part of this work,
and am so excited for what lies ahead.
Love and miss you all! Stay warm!
Sister Hoyt
