Hello All!!! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
So a quick run down of the week:
Monday was a super fun P-day. We went bowling with our investigator Justin and Becca and their cute little kid. It was so much fun. We got to teach Shaun and Ryan in Wendys before heading to the Rathfons for FHE. I am really hoping we can get Shaun and Ryan baptized in December. They are really nice, but very simple and have some horrible health problems. but they know the church is true and have that desire to be baptized so the Lord will provide a way eventually.
Tuesday we got to go to the Mercy Center and help them do their community Thanksgiving Dinner. It was delicious and soooo much fun. There were so many people. We used every single plate and had to do more dishes just to feed everyone. One of the guys that work there had no idea what a snipe hunt was. So all of us workers were going on and on about how its a real thing and all that jazz. It was hilarious. We got to teach Brittany. She is a mom to 3 crazy little boys. It was a little hard to get them to focus. But it was so cool because we decided to just do a Book of Mormon read with her and her oldest son Eli got really excited. He wanted to read a bunch and was pretty good at understanding it all. He asked great questions and said he really wanted to read the Book of Mormon. I think it shocked Brittany. Brittany said she would read with him everyday. It is so cool to see how much little children feel the Holy Ghost and understand the principles of the Gospel. This little boy basically taught his mother that reading the scriptures was important. It is a cool reminder of the scripture that tells us that we must become like little children in order to enter the Kingdom of God. That night we went to Frenchlick and got into a discussion with a Pentecostal preacher. That was really interesting. They are a very very weird religion. But we got to see the Heltons again too.
Wednesday was really really rainy. We spent the day in Orleans. And because we were low on miles we literally walked the whole time in the pouring rain. Luckily it wasnt too cold that day. Thank goodness for rain boots, jackets and umbrellas because it was hours in the rain. We trapezed all over Orleans. On a random back road trying to get to some less actives house Sister A felt that we needed to try a little brown trailer on the way. So we did, and there was a girl who answered the door that said she just worked there and the women she was helping said she wasnt interested. But as we walked away I just didnt feel right. So we wrote a note and i sacrificed my little baggie to put a note on the workers car. She never called us but who knows. Eventually we got to wet and too cold so we gave in and got the car. When we got home sister A had gotten a package. Inside were these super cute Sister missionary Christmas stockings. She even included one for me :) Theyre super cute. We also got to teach Justin and it was an awesome lesson. His wife Becca was on fire. She basically told him that he needed to listen to the answer hes getting and get baptized. It was so awesome. She went from wanting nothing to do with the lessons and then randomly sat in one a few weeks ago, and now she is in every one and telling him hes getting answers from God and basically pushing him to baptism. I dont know what changed but all I can say is that prayers bring miracles.
Turkey Day!!!!
This was a pretty awesome day. It was a non proselyting day so we had the whole day to do whatever. So we headed to the Porters after studies. When we pulled up I got a ETA text, then the next thing i know theyre popping up out of nowhere and start chucking tennis balls at us. Missy even had the gas mask and goggles on that I sent a picture of last week. So we ended up throwing our bags down and having a tennis ball war in the middle of the road. It was awesome. We ended us just snacking with them and playing a game called Missionary Conquest. Its pretty funny. Its kind of like monopoly. There are these temptation and blessing cards. One roll Michael got a temptation card that said he was spreading rumors about someone. He said it was sleeping with a cow.... So the very next roll I get a blessing card that says I forgave someone for spreading rumors about me... Everyone freaked out and said I slept with a cow... Hes just lucky I cant punch people as a missionary. But then we headed up to the Rathfons for our first Thanksgiving dinner. One of the daughters had this brand new little baby. I just loved it. So sad i couldnt hold it though. But the food was really yummy. We also got to play a few games. One was this game where you are trying to get the last word in before the buzzer. You flip over a letter and the first person who puts their category out there starts the buzzer and everyone tries to come up with something in that category that starts with the letter. I won that one :) Then Sister A won apples to apples. Our next dinner was at sister Moores. Her family is pretty fun. One of her sons asked me the difference between hunting here and hunting in Utah since weve lived in the east and west. I told him in Utah they do "real hunting" He got a hoot out of that and we were having fun. He said that Grandpa needs to take him hunting in Utah. They had 4 little girls there and they were insanely loud. All of our family combined isnt that disrespectful and loud. But they were having fun so whaterver. Sister Andrus couldnt take it anymore so she got up to go and play some games with them like duck duck goose to try and contain the circus. It was a pretty fun day and we got to go to bed half and hour early. It was amazing.
Friday was district meeting. It was a really awesome spiritual training. I totally cried... oops. But then we took some super funny pictures and had a district lunch. So funny story. Brother Guthrie just got a little 1 year old puppy. She is a blue tick hound named Dixie. Sister Andrus has never had a dog so she got this brilliant idea to take it for a walk back to our apartment and bathe her... Well that dog is a psycho. She wanted to sniff everything and basically pulls you everywhere. And she absolutely hates baths... Sister A had to hold her down and we both just got soaked. Our bathroom smelled awful.
Saturday was a stressful day. We were waiting all day for transfer news. Long story short Sister A is getting kicked out to Mt. Vernon and I am taking over the area with a new companion. Her name is Sister Tibbitts. She came out with Sister A and apparently has a bit of an attitude so this is going to be interesting. Our personalities are going to be interesting to see how they fit. I am super sad to see Sister A go and am terrified to take over the area. But lots of prayers and faith will go in to the next few days and somehow it will all work out.
Sunday was bittersweet with Sister A having to say goodbye to a lot of people. We sang a duet of Silent Night together in sacrament meeting. Justin and Becca even came to church again!!! YAYYYY!!! We also got to go to a fireside in Louisville with the Cowans. That was pretty fun.
Pretty crazy eventful week. But I have absolutely loved most of it. Its going to be an interesting new adventure but the Lord knows what we and this area needs, so I will trust him. This gospel is so awesome! I just love it. It is so true and I am grateful for the opportunity I have to serve. I love you all!! Have a wonderful week!!
Zone Meeting and Sis A having to say goodbye.
Thanksgiving.
