Nov 14th 2016

Hi All!

Its been a pretty good week here in Paoli. Starting to get super cold. Absolutely hate it. Winter in a skirt is sooo not going to be fun. But It should be interesting atleast. Got so cold one night I wore my sweatpants under my long skirt where you couldnt see them. We ended up dropping 2 of our baptismal dates, but picked up another one so thats fun. Only a few of them are actually solid though.

Sister Andrus tried to teach me a little tap dance this week. I feel like Im just going to fall on my face instead. But I started to figure somethings out so yay me.

Got to watch 17 miracles for P-Day last week. Love that movie. Always makes me cry. But I am so very grateful for the sacrifices of the pioneers. They leave a legacy of faith that I hope to live up to someday. So cool.

So cool story. We found $25 on the street randomly walking around Paoli, and then last Monday we TWEd a guy walking down the street with a big garbage bag over his shoulder and a backpack. He said he had just lost everything except for the stuff on his back. Got super emotional as we testified of Jesus Christ knowing what we went through. And sister Andrus had the thought to give him the $25 for a bus ticket and some food. He took it and bawled. So hopefully he actually used it for good and not to just buy drugs. But either way its cool to see how God always puts things in our paths in order to bless the lives of others we serve.

Got to rake this ladies yard. This little old woman was trying to rake up her big yard full of leaves. So I pull over and jump out offering to help. She only had one rake so Sister Andrus started to rake while I talked to her about the church. Sister Andrus didnt make it too far and then handed it up to me. So I did the whole yard while they talked. It was kind of fun.

So grandma and mom, you would be so proud of me this week. I cleaned like the whole apartment. I started Wednesday during our dinner hour. I pulled my big wooden desk out, Vacuumed the floor under it and the window. And then cleaned the window. It has easily not been cleaned since people moved in there about 7 years ago maybe more. I had to get a scrub brush sponge and scrub it, it was that nasty. I even sat on the window sill and hung out over the sill to clean the outside since there is a big spiky bush under the window. Then balanced precariously on a stool in said thorny bushes to get it as clean as possible. But that started a cleaning revolution this week. Every day since during our lunch and dinner hour I have found something to clean. Started with all the kitchen cabinets. Pulling everything out, cleaning and wiping them down, and then throwing away what we dont use and organizing it all back. I think I have 1 or 2 more cabinets to do. Then I did that to the whole fridge today. I feel accomplished.

So while we were at the Heltons. Kenton the 13 year old pulls out an old record player and starts playing 40s music. He just loves 40s music. I find it hilarious. He played along on his guitar. Some song that was like "Hey good looking... What you cookin??" Stuff like that. It was so fun haha. Sister Andrus accidentally told Sister Helton that she was going to die. Sister Helton has been pretty sick, and when we were texting her earlier in the week she said she was going to the doctor and jokingly said that she needs to go through the temple super quick because she was going to die. Sister Andrus tried to type back saying "Youre NOT going to die sister Helton! we love you" But she actually said "You are going to die sister Helton! We love you :)" When Sister Helton said to check the text, Sister Andrus freaked out and turned to me yelling "I just told Sister Helton to die!!!" I was laughing so hard and she just looked horrified. Bahaha.

Got attacked by a dog. Luckily it was like a wiener dog and it just wanted me to pet it, but it kept jumping up on me and trying to lick my face.

We gave the training in District Meeting this week. It went really well actually. The Lord was definitely helping us. We have seen lots of awesome stuff this week. Dylun, one of our baptismal dates. Quit smoking, drinking, chewing etc cold turkey and has been living the Word of Wisdom for basically 2 weeks without any slips!! YAYYYYY!! Hes totally getting baptized.

Justin is doing awesome too. Becca is still sitting in the lessons and is really pushing him to recognize the answers he is getting and man up. Justin is feeling like he is getting answers but he is still super scared to let go. Becca is being a huge help. He is so close. He is making more and more comments saying he is leaning toward the Mormon church. It is sooo awesome. Love that family to death. When he really figures it out for himself he is going to be so solid in this gospel.

Other than that I had a slight moment of horror this week. I slipped twice with my southern lingo. The first time I did it. I used the words "Dont like her" and then while TWEing a guy I said "happy huntn" like hunting but southern style. I was like NOOOOO!!!!!!!! The descent into the lingo is beginning, I told myself I was not going to use the word Y'all at any time. Still havent done it yet.

Sunday we got to have the Primary kids from English come up and do a primary program for us. It was sooooo super cute. Just loved it. There was this one little boy who was super shy. The teacher was helping him with his words and he just kind of mumbled or skipped a bunch. But he had a line that was something like "we can live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again" Well she got to and and the little boy just yells JESUS CHRIST!! super loud. Then at the end she was trying to get him to repeat the words "In the name of Jesus Christ, amen." Well he didnt say any of that he just yelled AMEN!! So basically he knew Jesus Christ and Amen. It was so cute and funny. They had a few people in the ward come up and they sang Love One Another in a whole bunch of different languages. It was pretty cool.

We went bowling for Pday today. Didnt even know we had a huge building that has bowling and stuff in it. So that was really fun. I had a possessed ball. We had a lot of fun. Did lots of cleaning again. I broke the mop bucket when a shelf I was cleaning fell. But its ok we have 2.

Anyway just another crazy week here in the middle of no where Kentuckyana. Nothing too super exciting but always an adventure here. This work is awesome. It is so amazing to see the Lords hand in our lives. I love being able to testify of a loving Heavenly Father and Savior. God is great.

Love and miss you all! --
