Hello All!
Well this week has been a bit of an interesting week. Its been pretty cold here, but it doesnt snow. Dont know if Im happy about that or not. If its going to be this cold it might as well just snow. But then again our feet dont get wet.
Monday was super fun. We got to play laser tag with some of the elders and the Porter family. It was soo much fun. I also kicked everyone's butt and had the high score soooo.... :D Came home and found that a friend had sent me a Christmas package complete with a tree! It was crazy. I started setting it up today and its exciting to have some Christmas things up. And the best part? Theres Harry Potter stuff!!!!!! Im so excited. But then we had to say goodbye to a bunch of people and it was really sad. I did not want sister Andrus to go.
Tuesday Sister Porter drove us down to Louisville to pick up the new sister. It seemed to go ok. Sister Andrus was really excited and I got the MTC district door stop from Elder Frigetto. We all signed it in the MTC and have been passing it around the mission. Found out my new companion has basically no filter, and isnt afraid to say anything. Kind of interesting. She is also allergic to basically everything so that is a little difficult. Makes grocery shopping expensive sometimes but oh well. We have had a pretty rough week adjusting though. Had to do a lot of praying and practice a lot of patience. Its just been a hard week in general though.
We had to drop all of our baptismal dates. I have been super stressed this week and on top of that I have gotten the beginnings of a cold. So all in all it has just led to a reallllyyyy rough week. A few members of the ward (bishop included) have been making me feel kind of bad as a missionary. Every sister that has came here so far has baptized atleast one. more that one actually. until I get here and we have no baptisms and lose all our baptismal dates no matter how hard I have been trying. I know its not all about baptisms. But its really hard when you feel like the whole ward is judging you and thinks youre a bad missionary when you are trying your best. Oh well, all I can do is do my best and ignore them.
Thursday was pretty cool though. We met our new district leader. I dont like him very much yet, but Sister Tibbitts thinks he looks like Mikey off the Goonies. But we went to Frenchlick for the day. We tried a bunch of potentials and actually got in contact with a few of them. One even seemed interested. Also some less actives said we could come by sometime so thats exciting.
We got to go teach this sweet little Jamaican lady that works with one of our members at the hotel. She is very open to the gospel and wants to be led to the truth. However her husband is of a different religion, and their marriage is not one she really wanted. She was terrified to ask him for permission to just meet with us. So it may be interesting. But the Lord works miracles so we will keep praying for her.
We ate at the little Dairy Queen there and we both watched one of the workers sit and pick his nose and then eat his boogers for like 10 minutes. It was absolutely disgusting. I dont know if I dare go there again while he is working. O.o
Another funny food story, I was making french toast for dinner this week and it tasted awful. i couldnt figure out why but it was disgusting. So I go back over to cook something again, and as I go to reach for the cinnamon I had used for the french toast, which is on top of the oven. I found that someone had left the paprika in that spot instead... So I had just dumped paprika all over in my french toast and wondered why it tasted nasty. I wondered why it had a weird color..... oops.
Also I decided I didnt want to wait all the way to Monday to start putting up the tree. So me and sister Tibbitts pulled our couch a part. Its one of those 3 section ones. And attempted to move it into one of the bedrooms in the back. We had to carefully move an entire bookcase full of stuff out of the way. And then we spent lots of time trying to maneuver it through the doors. We were trying to get it into the spare bedroom where all my clothes and stuff are, but there was nooo way. But we couldn't just get it into our bedroom either. Until i had the genius idea to unscrew the legs. Then it fit. So now we have part of our couch in our bedroom. And a space for my Christmas tree!!! and sister Porter brought us a Poinsettia that is really fun to have on our table.
And if you guys havent heard of the Light the World campaign you need to go to Mormon.org and check it out. It is awesome and a great way to invite the Christmas spirit into your home.
I love you all! Hope you are having a great holiday season!
