Hey Y'all!
Sorry I didn't get an email out last week. We had to drive up to
Louisville again for MLC so we had no time to write.
MLC was awesome! It was such a cool experience and it was one of the
most spiritual meetings I've ever had. It is wonderful to be so
involved in the Lords work and to see how he directs his missionaries.
It was also great to see my two MTC comps and spend some time with
missionaries I haven't seen in a while.
We have been able to do a lot of finding this week. With the weather
being so cold more people are willing to have you come in for a while
because they see 2 girls freezing their tails off in skirts when it's
2 degrees outside. So naturally we take that opportunity to explain
why we're crazy enough to walk around in freezing temperatures wearing
skirts. It's been pretty fun. We actually had to stay in Friday
evening and Saturday morning due to a storm coming in and really low
temperatures. But we got a little bit of snow! So it was cool to
finally see actual snow since we haven't really gotten any.
We had district Meeting on Friday and went with the elders to a pizza
place called Mellow Mushroom. It was kind of interesting. Very
psychedelic pot smoking hippy vibe type place. Even had advertisements
for cannabis trivia nights and lots of political campaign
paraphernalia everywhere. But it was pretty good pizza.
We also got to view the funeral for President Monson. It was a
beautiful send off to our dear prophet. I dearly love and will miss
that man so much. What an amazing example and servant of Christ. I am
grateful for the knowledge that he is with his dear sweet Francis and
the Master he spent his life serving. And for he knowledge that the
Lord is at the head of this church. The Priesthood keys are still here
and God will always speak through his prophet.
We had the opportunity to watch a regional broadcast with Elder Bednar
this Sunday. He gave some amazing thoughts on the connection between
faith and repentance. One of the cool things he shared was that true
members of the church are members that are constantly repenting. Not
those who are members in records only. He spoke strongly that members
need to use this divine gift and step up in their discipleship. It was
great to have so many opportunities to hear from the apostles this
week. We also got to watch the Devotional with Elder and Sister
Uchtdorf, they are the cutest. It was so sweet to hear them share
their stories and there encouragement and knowledge with us.
We also got to have lunch with the deaf group after church. It was so
much fun. They were all very nice to us and tried to sign slow and
simple so we could follow the conversation and included us. It was
lots of fun. They had lots of fun teasing me once they found out I
don't have a lot of time left. They taught me the sign for trunky. But
I am very not trunky. We have so much to do and focus on I have no
time for thinking about home. It's wonderful.
Anyway I love and miss all Y'all! Thanks for all your love and support.
Love you!
Sister Hoyt
