Sept 19th 2016

Hi All!

This week has been pretty good. Lots of the times days just blur together. Days feel like years sometimes and I cant remember half the things we did. Yay for journals.

This week we had zone conference. We had to clean our apartment really good and do an inspection on our car before driving all the way to New Albany. But it was super fun! I won a bucket of cleaning supplies and a tshirt. Which was kind of cool. It was just really nice to hang out with other missionaries and learn with eachother. We are always working with non members and less actives so it feels good to have people in the same situations and missions as us.

We have this annoying thing in our car called a Teewee. It monitors your driving and randomly pipes up with an annoying voice to get mad at you for some random reason. So we named it Cormac. (HP fans will get it).  We also have had to bike a lot this week, because we are only allowed a certain amount of miles and the sisters before me wasted too many miles for exchanges. Its good for me though. My bike is kind of falling apart. But gets the job done. I named it Shaniqua because it has personality. We were biking in Orleans. Which is another tiny town just outside paoli and my pedal was falling off. It is literally falling a part. So we pull into a gas station to hopefully buy some duct tape, when this super friendly older guy comes up to us and talks to us. He then goes and pulls pink duct tape out of his car and lets me use it to tape my pedal. Which was perfect because my bike is pink! Then he bought me a thing of M&Ms. Super sweet guy.

We went to a stake preparedness fair with some members this Saturday. The ZLs were there as well as a few other missionaries. It was fun being with them and doing some fun activities like tying quilts for cancer patients and helping the members set up, and talking to as many people as we could. Guess what?! There was an Elder Hill here from Meridian Idaho. We got talking and I told him where we lived in Idaho and the first question out of his mouth was "Do you know the MAughns?" I got super excited and we got talking about them a little bit. Apparently their families have been friends for years. He showed me some pictures of brother Maughn and his dad going fishing together. It is a small world. Especially when you are a mormon.
The ZLs were giving me crap because I was making them feel stupid teaching them some of the silly games we played in the MTC. One of them even called me a brat! Just cuz I am smarter than him...... But it was a lot of fun.

For P day today a member couple took us to Spring Mill. Its this little pioneer village/statepark. It was super cool! I will send pictures. Lots of cool history things. And we got to watch them grind corn into cornmeal in the old mill. It has one of those big water wheels and old grinding stones. The Jackmans bought us a little bag of the corn meal that were going to make cornbread with and use the homemade jelly one of the other members brought us. It is heaven. I dont even love jam that much but hers is super good. They then took us out for pizza which was pretty good. Free food as a missionary is awesome.

We are teaching some really cool people though. This week we were riding our bikes when this guy is out on his porch, so we do our normal TWE thing. And he was like yeah the missionaries! I want to meet with you! He was friends with one of the members who gave him a book of mormon and he said he wanted to meet with us when he found a place to live. Well he now had a place to live and we just happened to run into him while he was out. So we went and taught him with one of the members. He seemed really prepared. He said he wanted to clean up and be better for his son. So he quit drugs and alcohol 4 weeks ago and rarely smokes. So I committed him to be baptized right then. So we will see how that goes. We didnt get to teach Susan or Glenda this week because apparently theyve been super sick. Justins lessons are going really well. He is definitely one of my top favorites to teach. He is pretty blunt and has lots of questions. He has been through a lot, but is a super cool guy. He really likes us teaching him, and always says that if anyone bothers us or we need anything he will be the first to show up and will beat all the bad guys up for us. He told us this week that he has really wanted to feel close to God again and he has felt closer to getting there when we teach him. I am sooo excited to get him baptized. He really needs to exercise more faith and just really seek with more intent, but as we were teaching him this week I could just see him in white. I really want him to get there. So we are going to work super hard in getting him there. It has been a bit of a crazy week. And some days have been really hard, but I am just trying to put one foot in front of the other and trust the Lord. I have been able to stand and see him work miracles. I think he will work a miracle in me too. This gospel is so so true. It holds the key to peace and joy in this life and the life to come. I can truly see how much he wants us home as I teach his plan.

Love you all!
