Heard from Allie

So we got a real quick email from Allie last night. She said she had heard something about a dearelder site that was for free while she is in the MTC. So we went and checked it out.

So for those of you who dont know about it it is a site where you can send letters to the missionary in the MTC for free. They will get it the same day you submit it as long as you do it before noon mountain standard time.  You can also send letters to them in the field for the cost of a stamp.  You have to sign up for an account and they have you deposite $10 to cover the cost of stamps for the letters you write.

I didnt realize that the MTC letters were free until after I had already made the deposite, but owell I will just write letters to her through them until my $10 is used up.  It's probably just easier to write to her email address, but as far as the MTC goes it is kind of cool that they will deliver a letter to her the same day.

You can also send care packages to them through this site as well. They cost money and they are pre made up. I checked them out and some are pretty cute but most of them are filled with sugary stuff, candy, cookies which isnt to great for a diabetic. However they did have one that contained trail mix, fruit snacks, granola bars, a juice box and some sugar free candy which would be ok. However for the price I figured I could send my own with the stuff she likes in it for less or at least the same cost.

Anyways i thought I would pass the info along in case any of you were interested.  Any of you returned missionaries who are familiar with this site or received things through this site pipe up and let us know what you thought about it and if you liked it or thought it was worth using.  I did like the MTC letter part of it.  It's a physical letter they get the same day to read so that is cool.

Anyways in her short email she mentioned this and the fact she had a blessing last night which helped make her feel a little better, and that was about it. She said she would write more about her week Next Thursday on her P-day.

I am happy to have received a little email from her even if it was super short. Just knowing she is ok and hearing from her makes me feel better.

I constantly worry about her and her homesickness and pray that she stays busy as to not dwell on it and that after the first couple days or so she will soon feel a ton better and get the hang of mission life and feels more secure and happy with being there.

I would love to hear from some of you returned missionaries on how your first week went in the MTC and how you did with the homesickness.  Please feel free to comment on here.

Until next time!!
