July 24th 2017 Pioneer Day

Hey Y'all!

Sorry I didn't right last week. We had a crazy Pday and had no time.

Nothing too new here in Salem. Still struggling to find people to
teach. Problem with small hick towns is everyone knows you and has
talked to you. It we have a few people with good potential and are
still working hard. We've been working a lot with the less actives
recently and we were so excited to see 3 come to church this Sunday.

We had interviews this week with our new mission president and his
wife. President and Sister Hughes. They are amazing people. They are
still adjusting and trying to figure everything out, but you can tell
they have so much love for the missionaries. He is very soft spoken
and very different from president Brough. But I think they will do
great things for this mission.

We got to take Sarah to see the temple this week. She just loved it.
She is sooo close to being baptized just has a little bit of fear to
overcome. But when she comes she will be super solid in the gospel.
We're super excited for her.

Anyway a short one this week. Don't have a lot of stories to tell.
Just lots of tracting and lots of service. Missionary work is great!
It can be super hard sometimes but I wouldn't give it up for anything.
I am learning and growing so much and I love watching this gospel
change lives. God is so good.

Love and miss y'all!

A part of my personal letter from Allie. She was telling me about a poem on missionary work they had to write and send to the mission President. Thought she did a great job and wanted to add it in here.

We also had to write a poem on missionary work. I procrastinated writing the stupid thing and wrote it the day of lol.

Thrust in your sickle

One more denial, one more glare

One more hateful word I simply can't bare

My body is tired, my feet are sore

I don't think I can knock on another door

The work is hard, the air is hot

And sometimes I worry its all for not

But then a thought quiet and still,

At least it's not carrying a cross to a hill

A flash of guilt, repentant and contrite

I prayed for forgiveness by my bed that night

Lovingly he answered, gentle and kind

I have so much more for you in mind

These tests are hard, it might seem strange

But all of these trials help you to change

A warrior once, a warrior still

Now I can trust you to do my will

Trust in me, the blessings will come

It's all in my plan to help you become

So go forward child, my bearer of light

And thrust in your sickle with all of your might.

And then Roses are red, violets are blue, this land is full of preachers, and they all hate you!!

So yeah not really a poet but it worked.
